HEARTATTACK & VINE - life and almost death in western Norway

Sometimes things happen. It stops you in your tracks and it forces you to start a new thought, a new plan ahead.

It can be the simplest of things, a comment, a look, a misplaced motivation, a new-found imagination.

It can be heavy things, a promise broken, a blank page waiting to be filled out, a pandemic, a body saying no at fifty years of age. A heart attack.

The fjords look pretty and inviting. Most of the times.

But life by the fjords are not always as easy or carefree as the travel magazines make it out to be,

and it is hard to turn things around when you are in it, and are not paying attention to the gradual signs of problems.

But after the initial fear and shock, the thought of change comes creeping in.

When everything gets put on hold and you don´t really know if you could ever go back to where you were before,

you are presented with the possibility for a completely new path.

What if you don´t actually have to get back to your old you? Maybe this is the perfect time to start anew.

Change is good, but how can we make sure it´s a change for the better?

It makes no sense in dwelling on the the first fifty years of your life,

but changing now, however hard it might seem, could get you another fifty years.

What seems early becomes halftime. Of a lifetime. A heart attack as a start of something.

Fjord air. The cold Nordic wind against the skin. There is a beauty in looking and seeing.

It´s a great place for a new start, it´s a perfect time for shedding skin.

Western Norway. I will start seeing you even though I have lived here my whole life, and I promise you I am new and that you will be new to me too.

Focused eyes. Curious mind. Wherever this leads me, I will always have that. Sometimes things happen. Yes, sometimes things happen in the strangest ways.
